Barrett Black showed up to Fox 7 Austin’s Good Day Cooks with a plan: talk pulled pork, light some barbecue sauce on fire, and surprise the morning show crew with a little flambe action. Mission accomplished.

Before stepping into the studio, Barrett ran a quick test outside, combining rum and barbecue sauce, torch in hand, to see if the pulled pork could handle a fiery finish. It did. The sauce flared up, the pork crisped perfectly, and Barrett walked away with all his eyebrows.

"We're not writing recipes here — we're just experimenting, having fun, and seeing what works." Barrett shared while he experimented before the show.

Inside the studio, he turned down the flames (a little) and served pulled pork three ways:

  • On Hawaiian roll sliders

  • Over tater tots with bell peppers and cheese

  • The classic way — just pork, pickles, and onions

He also brought along Norma Jean's Barbecue Sauce, named after his grandmother, who tuned in to watch it all live. From tradition to a few live-fire theatrics, the segment was a fast-moving glimpse into what makes Black's BBQ stand out: bold, classic flavors with a little room to play.
